Ash and I planned this camping trip long before we bought our trailer and then we got our trailer and ran into problems with our truck not being able to tow it...but our awesome new friends Jim and Rachel came to the rescue and lent us their truck so we could still go and enjoy the time with our boys. We literally couldn't have been more grateful because it was probably one of the funnest weeks of our whole summer. Of course if you are reader of this blog you know that there is probably a ton of photos to follow in this post...and you are right! Here they are!
We're finally on the ferry after a three hour sailing wait at the terminal in town. Apparently with an RV as big as ours you have to get to the Texada ferry really early...even on a Thursday of a random summer week! Next year we'll know better!
We were all starving as we were expecting to be there in time for dinner! Instead we got there long after dinner and ended up feeding our kids something at 8:30pm!
Our first night these are the only 2 pictures I took!
The next morning the guys were playing football in the empty spot between us. Someone had come and set up just their chairs in the site right next to the T's so they got us one two away from them. In the end those people showed up for not even 12 hours (1 night) before deciding to go to a new site closer to the water.
Happy James doing a special project first thing in the morning
Yummy eggs breakfast for Mommy!
Just me and James having breakfast while Jordie plays outside
These two just love each other and follow each other around pretty much all the time!
The first night we were there Jordie took a huge spill on his bike going down really fast on the hill right behind our campsite. Here he is the next day...on a longer but not quite as steep of a hill in the site between ours and the T's
The whole group of us headed down to the beach for a little bit before the huge storm clouds rolled in
Jenn and the kids came over for the day too!
It was fun that Janet and Len (and their son Callum) camped one night with the T's so we got to spend some quality time with one of our favorite ladies ever!
Gracie was having a blast putting rocks down her shirt
James was chatting up Janet. He just loves her!
I'm guessing it was colder than he expected it to be!
Oh oh...here come the grey clouds!
Enjoying some hot chocolate while it rained for a little bit
Rain stopped and we all just visited for a bit before supper!
Yeah I also feed kids freezies before supper too!
This little lady spent most of this day just hanging out with us in our trailer...she and Jaxon even ate their dinner over with us while Ash & Deb had a quiet dinner alone with Janet and Callum.
Jordie and I eating our supper!
Nice face Bill!
Adorable little ice cream face kiddies
Attempting to get some good group shots, I don't think any of them are fantastic shots though!
Who's awesome?
Beautiful sunset on our walk and bike ride to the park
This was Jordie at 9pm...sound asleep on my lap in front of the fire
This was Jim putting James to bed. I thought I'd sneak in and snap a little picture and this is what I got instead!
The next morning this was my happy little Jordie boy!
Yup...we feed our boys pudding for breakfast when we're camping. We do also feed them healthy foods too but we do take advantage of the special family time to give them treats.
Looking so big sitting on his brothers big bike!
Some quiet time coloring in the trailer
Love this picture of Jaxon
On our short drive to the Quarry this kid was sound asleep!
The weather wasn't super nice that day so it was almost completely empty there which from what I hear is very rare in the summer months.
Having a snack
And a beer
Just hanging out by himself deciding if he was going to swim or not
Yup, he was going in...like there was really any question!
This kid loves swimming!
There he goes!
Maddie's turn to try it!
Then next was Jordie boy! Note that it's only Sean in the water, Jim was being a wimp still!
Until he saw both boys in the water and then decided he should go in after all!
Poor Maddie got stung and wasn't a super happy girl after that!
Such a natural smile from James. I love rare photos like these. This is why I take thousands of pictures because for every 100 that I get a fake smile, I get one really outstanding smile from him!
Trying to get some group photos next
Me and my girl rocking our hats on our hat day!
The Tassell family
And then us
I'm not sure how this ended up turning out so good....but I absolutely LOVE IT! Definitely a favorite photo from the summer!
Back from the Quarry and taking a few pictures of our camp
The T's campsite
And some cute ones of the kids hanging out riding bikes while dinner is cooking!
More Lego playing!
This is our regular Saturday night alfredo chicken pasta dinner
Jordie kisses for a scruffy Daddy
I like this photo too
It's getting dark and these kids are still riding bikes
Time for s'mores!
Then we put the kids to bed and played a marathon two games of crib wars
hahahahahahaha....this photo just kills me. These two have so much fun together and I just love this photo!
11:30 at night and it's time for grilled cheese sandwich snacks over the fire.
It was so yummy!
Me and Ash...getting colder by the minute!
Warming up my feet with a few inches of hot water in the tub!
Last morning hot chocolate
And yes, more pudding!
Camp is cleaned up and they are finishing off the strawberries
One last adorable group photo!
He wanted me to take his photo!
Helping Dad get hooked up
One last picture of trailer...I was so excited that we made the decision to buy this and after this weekend I was even more committed to finding a solution to our truck problem!
Our first family photo in front of our trailer. I see many more of these in our future!
We had some time to kill at the ferry terminal so we played some basketball at the court above the terminal.
Such an awesome trip breaking our trailer in! The first morning we woke up together over there Jim said to me "well it's certainly better than camping in a tent!" Hell yes it is. And way less work too.
I love our trailer and I look forward to many many more camping trips in the years to come!
