Motivation Monday - My Reasons

Words to live by in this season of life.

Every day I get up and try my best. Some days I get lots done and I meet everyone's needs and demands, and on some days I just barely get through the day. People ask me almost every day how I'm doing and I always say, I'm surviving.

I look forward to the day (hopefully in the near future) where I can say that we are all thriving. We aren't there yet, but I have hope that we will get there.

These 3 have my whole heart. One day I will write about each of them and how incredible they are. Those that know and love them are lucky. Every day I feel lucky to be their Mom. I realize I don't share nearly enough photos of them, so here they are.

Learning how to do the clock at hockey...and killing it! A job that many adults are afraid to do and this little lady sat down and was a rockstar at it.

Our bronze medal winning boy! Played an incredible home tournament with his 13C team. One more away tournament next week in Comox and then hopefully the Stars one in town at the end of March and then his season will be over.

Our biggest guy with his D partner and buddy Carson at the hot dog sale yesterday. His smile just warms my Mama heart.

And one of all 3 just because - Super sweet moment captured yesterday! Teaching sister how to play baseball so she's ready when her season starts in a few weeks. Yes, for the first time ever, all 3 Barrows will be playing baseball so our evenings from April - June will be jam packed.

Monday Motivation - The Week Ahead

In looking back through my January posts I saw this week ahead one I did the first week and I really liked it so I altered the questions I little bit and here is a new set of questions and my answers. I like this kind of post and am going to attempt to keep these ones up as I find them very thought provoking and interesting to go back and read later about how I was feeling in those moments.

1) One thing you are looking forward to this coming week - Hopefully having a super productive week filled with PAC and Strata catch-up, 4 yoga classes (fingers crossed for Friday waitlist!), organizing my ensuite bathroom and getting it back together after the toilet install 2 weeks ago, plus work, a bunch of extra kids before school, student led conferences night, school based team meeting with James's teacher, kids sports, and finishing off with volunteering at the Horizon Business Awards on Saturday night! It's gonna be busy as ever but I'm looking forward to it :)

2) What are some things you are going to do for yourself - My 4 hours of yoga are my me time...and I'm so happy that I can make it work this week! With Jim being off work recovering from his surgery I'm certainly taking as many classes as I can. I know once he goes back to work in a few weeks my ability to attend classes is drastically going to decrease, but I'm still going to attempt to do at least 2-3 classes per week!

3) One accomplishment you are proud of from last week - The only thing I'm proud of from last week was just getting through the week! It was a tough one all around but as always I did it! Some weeks are harder than others but when I get to Sunday night I'm always proud of what I've accomplished.

4) Your intention for the week - Do what I can, and be okay with whatever does get done...and whatever doesn't get done will eventually get done too. Just work along at a good pace always trying to get stuff knocked off the to-do list and try to get two things done for every one thing added to the list. It's a great hope, but never practical in my crazy life :)

5) What is the biggest obstacle to achieving your goals this week - Time and energy! I am trying to watch what I eat and just be more active and hoping that will bring me more energy. I'm also trying to sleep more at night and forcing myself to go to bed earlier so I don't trudge through my days exhausted. It seems to be helping and I'm feeling more motivated to reach my goals than I ever have been before.

I look at this picture and it brings me great peace so I'm sharing it here in this posst. It is one of my all time favorite photos I've ever taken during one of our awesome family camping weeks on Texada.

The Week Ahead

I saw this on Instagram this morning and thought it was kind of fun, and might be a regular post for me! I started this post before work and am finishing it off just before bed.

1) One thing you are looking forward to - there are a few things actually! Hot yoga tonight with my sister (takes a drink of water as writing it so I'm not dehydrated like last time!), being back to work and routine (although the struggle today is real...I know in a few days it will be like the holidays never happened), Kennedy's dance class and Jordie's hockey today (I have LOVED the break from activities but I also love seeing them happy doing things they love) and finally continuing on the massive purge of our house that is ongoing. We started the basement and made some real progress. 4 bags of garbage, and a truck and a half to the auxiliary, plus a huge pile to be sold or distributed to other areas of the house as they get decluttered! We are going through EVERYTHING in every closet in our house and only keeping what we NEED! It feels so good already and our goal to have it done by Jim's surgery in 3 weeks is going to be a huge job but I think we can do it!

2) Five people in your life you are thankful for - Well this one is easy because I have 4 people in my immediate family, but I won't take the easy route this week. I'll say my mom, my sister, my niece (who just gave me the most handsome new little great nephew), Ash, and Danielle. All are super important ladies to me and couldn't imagine my life without any of them.

3) One accomplishment you are proud of from yesterday - We started the basement purge and it feels so good. I can't wait to show the before and after photos. Oh and we also cooked a yummy birthday Sunday dinner for my sister too.

4) One thing you like about the way you look - My pants are fitting a bit better these days which I'm liking!

5) Your intention for the day - It was merely to survive the day! First day back after holidays is usually pretty rough and today ended up going WAY better than I hoped. My kids all behaved really well and everyone got where they needed to go, without too much hassle!

Is there anything cuter than a toddler in a leather jacket?? She looked so grown up today it almost made me sad that she is almost 3, but then I remembered how much easier our life is getting as she gets older too, so I just smiled and snapped a cute picture of her and moved on :)

Just had to share the photo too before she grows out of the awesome donut shoes she LOVES!
