Fun Day 2018

Another year is just about done at Westview Elementary and another Fun Day is done too! I know I've said this before but I truly LOVE being a part of the Westview PAC family we've got there. I love helping out with organizing events, fundraising and making decisions about what we spend the money on. I also like having a bit of an inside scoop on what is going on at the school. It helps me when I tell James that I know everyone and that someone is always watching him so he better behave himself :)

For now here are the highlights of the day! We were so lucky that the rain held off for us!

Next year I'll have two monsters in the school and even more fun times ahead!

The Barrows 3 with their favorite toys!

This concept was so much fun and as soon as Jenn posted about this kind of mini session I texted her and said that we were in! I knew how much fun the kids would have with the photos, and I was right. All three of them loved it, but none as much as James! He was so excited and totally into the different poses that Jenn had him do to go along with his Lego skateboard park he got for his birthday and spent hours building last weekend.

I had such a hard time deciding which photo to put first on this post....but I settled with the big one of James cause he was just so excited and really did so good with everything that Jenn asked him to do! When I showed him this picture today he was so excited and couldn't believe all the awesome James's that were in one picture!

Next up is my favorite of Jordie! This  is the one that Jenn shared on her page and I just love it. This scowl is just so my Jordie boy that it makes me giggle each time I look at it!

And then Ms Kennedy with her Care Bears. I just LOVE the colors of this one best of all.

Now here are the other shots from each of them! I love how Jenn gave us multiple shots because in this series of James I think I love this first one the best of the ones that have just one part of the big photo above. You should have seen him leaning like a pro on that skateboard but the kid is a total klutz and couldn't balance like that even if he tried to!

LOVE IT!

Funny story about this one in particular...James wanted so bad to be climbing on the rock wall but Jenn wasn't sure how easy that would be with positioning him in a way that she could make it look good...but SHE DID IT! He looked so awkward when she was taking the photos but man did she ever work her magic and he looks awesome up there scaling the wall!

This kid is so funny. I swear his session was the shortest and he just listened really well, did his few poses and he was done and off playing with the other kids. He is such a funny little character and he kept laughing and saying that he hoped that Jenn was going to shrink him so he was the same size as his toys :)

These are his AWESOME new remote control cars that he got for his birthday. I'm not kidding, if you want to get your kids a cheap but amazing RC car, buy these ones! The two together were less than $40 and I got them online at Showcase. Actually they were $39.98 and I needed to spend $40 to get free shipping so we ordered him a third car that isn't nearly as fun as these two!

I bought this set of little Care Bear figurines before last Christmas but had planned to keep them and give them to her this year, BUT as soon as I saw Jenn's idea I knew I had to open them up for these photos, and man am I ever glad I did. These couldn't have turned out any better!

Once again I'm surprised with how Jenn can work her magic. This part of the shoot was definitely the hardest cause Kennedy is very fast and very busy these days, but Jenn clearly got some good shots in amongst me chasing K and her continually knocking down the Care Bears!

SO...if you're in the PR area...book this session with Jenn Parkin Photography!! You won't regret it I guarantee that! These are the kind of photos I know I'll look back on forever and remember them at the ages they are now, with their favorite toys. I love them!

Funny Friday - Major bedhead

The other morning when I posted about getting Kennedy up after she took off her diaper and clothes I decided to take her to the potty and sit her on it. We are slowly introducing the potty before bath every night but I figured she was already naked so why not?! I love everything about these pictures actually...the hair of course, her little plastic cell phone she's talking on, and her little chubby rolls sitting on the potty! Maybe I'll get lucky this time around and have a kid that potty trains before the age of 3! One can only hope anyways...

Thankful Thursday - Bedtime snuggles

She loves to act like a big girl whenever she gets to be with her brothers in their big beds. I don’t trust her for a second on the top bunk but I let her up there for at least a little snuggle.

I love that even a year later the boys still love her so fiercely that every night they want to hug and kiss her and sing to her. She is a very lucky and very loved little girl.

Wednesday Wishes - Funny one

My wish would be for my daughter to stop undressing herself and taking off her diaper! She’s driving me crazy and she’s so different from my boys. They never took their clothes off in their cribs and never took their diapers off at all. This one is just a little bit nuts and it blows my mind how much trouble she can get into in a very short period of time!!

No joke she had been awake less than 10 minutes and I saw this whole thing unfolding on the monitor, but I really wanted to finish my cup of tea before going up and getting her. Her hair is so crazy and that shit eating grin on her face just kills me! She is going to be my biggest trouble maker for sure!!

Memory Monday - this kid eats so much!

This kid is gonna eat us out of house and home! He is only 8 years old and easily eats more in a day than I do (which I know isn’t saying a lot because I have a small appetite). This picture was from a few months ago but he was so proud of his very first ever triple decker peanut butter and jam sandwich that I just had to share this moment as my Monday memory!

Selfie Sunday - Just a bunch of randoms

I've now got a snapshot idea for everyday except for Saturday. In thinking about it I could technically do Selfie Saturday too, but I would love to find something different to do with that day! If you have any suggestions for other good posts that use the names of the days just shoot me a message with your suggestion. Right now I'm got Memory Mondays, Top Ten Tuesdays, Wednesday Wishes, Thankful Thursday or Throwback Thursday, Funny or Fave Photo Fridays and now Sunday Selfies. I'd actually love any suggestions for any of the days of the week!

So, today's post is my favorite selfies from the past little while. I'm not a huge selfie person but I do take them relatively often so I at least appear in some photos of my kids lives!

I love this photo of me and my little Eddie Jo!

Birthday selfie with Jordie Boy!

Family camping selfie

Adorable and funny James and Kennedy selfie

Camping Fruit Loops eating selfie

Campfire selfie with Jordie

Bedtime bottle selfie and snuggles with KJ

An adorable Ash & Kennedy selfie on Mother's Day

And a Jimmy & Kimmy selfie on the ferry on our trip to Bear Mountain (blog post on that coming very soon...maybe even tomorrow for Memory Monday!)

There you have it...my first Selfie Sunday! Like I said...any suggestions are welcome for more Barrows Family Snapshot posts!

Favorite Photo Friday - Camping randoms

We broke out the trailer a few weeks ago for our first trip of the year and went up to Haywire for the long weekend. It was the first time since we got the trailer that we've camped alone, and it was very different. Not good or bad different, just strange different. We did have lots of visitors which was great but it was not the same to not have other adults and kids to chat with around the fire in the morning or at night!

Here are just a couple of my favorite photos from the weekend. Starting off with me and my biggest guy (who got hit in the face with a ball and broke his glasses again!)

I love this one! He took her for a walk while we were cleaning up and a few hours later he said to me "hey mom, did you see the selfie I took with Kennedy?" I just giggled, and then when I saw the picture I smiled big knowing how much he would have loved taking this photo and being so excited to tell me all about it! Everyone always says how much Kennedy looks like Jordie, but I think she looks just like James sometimes! Their little squinty eyes and noses are just too cute!

Then of course Jordie wanted one with just him and his sister too

Handsome Jordie boy loving his glow sticks

Camping tote baths are the best!

I shared this one on his birthday eve post but I love it so much I had to share it again!

Quiet book reading with Mommy

Big bright blue eyes loving her tote bath too!

Another one of James before the broken glasses, with his yummy eggs benny breakfast we made. There aren't as many photos of James from this weekend because the kid was pretty much gone all day from our campsite! He would eat his meals, and then he was off riding his bike, or hanging out with his little buddy at his site, or just exploring. I can't even tell you how many times we said the phrase "where's James?"

I love camping as a family and I'm already looking forward to doing it again on the July long weekend too! I love that our boys are old enough to just be off and exploring and knowing they are safe and someone is always looking out for them. Living in a small town is a wonderful thing!
