Jim and I decided on Sunday to take the afternoon and have some fun with the kids. Jim has been working a bunch of overtime lately and we felt that we haven't had much time to do fun things with them. I took Kennedy to airplane park, then Willingdon beach while Jim took the boys out to Myrtle Point to hit some balls. Then we met up at Putters for some before dinner ice cream :)
Then we stopped at Nana and Papa's to check out the new gazebo being built on the deck!
On our recent camping trip we found that one of Kennedy's favorite things to do was head to the beach for a before bed swim...usually in her clothes instead of bothering to change into her swimsuit! This spot at Haywire was absolutely beautiful, especially with the gorgeous sun setting behind her.

Another day and this time Kennedy and Jordie went in in their clothes!
And on the way back to camp we jump in the huge mud puddle in the trail! She was so happy and truly living her best life getting dirty and having fun!
This time it was swimsuits and a swim with our girls Hads and Kins!
These are the memories I am trying to soak up now that she is growing so fast. So often we find ourselves alone with her while her brothers are off doing other big kid stuff. I am sad that we don't do as much family stuff, but also grateful to have these moments with Kennedy too. Everything is so different with her, not just because she's a little girl, but also because she is our last baby and these moments will be the last of these kinds we get to share with our kids as toddlers. We are treasuring the moments while we can!!
This year we were determined to get out and enjoy Family Day together. My FB memories tell me that the last two years we’ve been home sick and haven’t done anything so this year we decided to go out to Saltery Bay for a fire, complete with hot dogs and s’mores! Our plan was almost changed due to a sick Kennedy but we decided to go anyways and hope for the best. She was certainly tired and under the weather but was a total trooper too. She was sound asleep in the truck before we even got moving! Thanks to all those that came out and joined us today as well! I have found this year that I’m more in the moment and haven’t been taking nearly as many photos as I have in the past, but here are some of my favourites.
She was so tired we were snuggling by the fire and she just about fell asleep in my arms
We are in the home stretch of James's big room reno and tonight is his first night down there and I couldn't be more excited for him and for us for having pulled off this huge feat in just two weeks! I'll post some pictures after I'm in the city next week and can get the last of the stuff that we need for down there.
We went out to Walmart today and while we were out he asked if we could take a few minutes and grab some steamed milks from Starbucks while we were out. I love that he still loves spending time with me and whenever I get the chance to spend one on one time with him I try my best to make it special, even if just in a small little way.
I love this big guy so much and I'm so happy for him that he will finally have some space that is just his. Once I finally share the before and after pictures I think you'll be shocked at the progress that was made in such a short time!
A little sneak peek of his room color :) Here is a little snuggle that we had this afternoon. I am looking forward to having some quiet alone time each night with all of my kids now that they all have separate rooms!
I take my lunch break around 12:30 on my early day shifts and if I leave my office and head home or to run an errand then that means I am inevitably going right by the kindy playground while Jordie is on his lunch break. Any chance I get to sneak in a hug from my kids during the day I take. I enjoy seeing their faces and getting even just an extra minute of alone time with them.
Today as I walked through the gate I hear a little voice yell "Kim" and come running. It was little Ella Lawry and she ran right over and gave me a big hug. Then Jordie spotted me and came running for the best hug and exclaimed "Moooommmm....I just love seeing you!" I had a little chat with him about his day and how it was going and then just as I was about to leave I see my Maddie girl come running over for a hug too. Just put such a smile on my face to get me through the rest of the day!
Even though I didn't snap a picture on the playground today I did snap this one of me and my Jordie boy last night while we snuggled on the couch and read some bedtime stories.
I don't know if my mom just knew I needed it or what but she gave me the best gift ever yesterday. A day with just the boys to focus on them and their activities while she kept this little lady from 8:30am - 7:00pm. It started off with me asking her to pick Jordie up from preschool on Tuesday so I could go on James's field trip out to Lang Creek. I had intended to take Kennedy with me but Nana said that I should just leave her at her house and go with just James, so I happily said yes and did just that. I dropped her at 8;30, ran Jordie to school and then made it to James's school in time to do reading with him and then get ready to go. I had a great time focusing on him, walking with him, holding his hand and exploring the grounds and salmon facility out there. I know how much he loves and appreciates any one on one time that he gets with me and this day was just awesome for him and I. I had intended to pick Kennedy and Jordie up after the field trip, take them grocery shopping (which I also got to do totally alone!), then home for lunch and a short nap/quiet time before James got home. Then we were off to the rink for Jordie's skating lessons from 3:30-4:00 and then back home for a very quick supper before I would be dropping her back off at Nana's because I had asked her to watch Kennedy from 5:45-7:15 so Jim and I could take the boys to public skating to get some extra practice in. Actually I was originally going to take K with us and put her in the stroller but Nana doesn't trust that I can skate so was worried about her sweet little baby getting hurt. PS: I can skate...but I did bail hard twice last night from not skating for 2 years (Jim wouldn't let me skate last winter because I was pregnant). I will get back into it and I'm sure she will be on the ice with us...but maybe not for the first few times! Thankfully Nana just offered to keep her all day so she could nap there and not be interrupted with all of the things I had to do. In the end she didn't nap for her almost at all, but she was a happy girl!
Here was my mom's FB status this morning: "Spent the day with little Miss Kennedy yesterday and was reminded what a super little girl she is! This picture is her at 5:00pm after only sleeping in total an hour and half throughout the day! For only being 6 months old, she is a little champ!! Was a fun day with lots of visitors for coffee and playing with Kennedy!! Wish all the days could be this great!!"
