The best Christmas/Birthday present ever!

I know I'm a lucky girl pretty much 365 days of the year but this year my Jimmy knocked my Christmas and birthday present right out of the park! Him and the two hubbies of my besties got together to book the girls and I an overnight at the spa at the Kingfisher Resort on the Island.

We were all scheduled for manicures but Ash and I wanted something different so she went for a pedicure and I went for a (very pricey) relaxation massage while Theresa stayed with the manicure. While the massage was not the best I have ever had, the time spent with Theresa and Ashleigh was exactly what I needed. We spent hours talking about life, hubbies and of course our kids!

We took the first ferry to the Island on Saturday morning and we shopped our hearts out until it was time to check into the hotel and head to the spa. After our treatments we went to Boston Pizza for dinner and then headed back to the hotel for a very early night. We were all tired and hoping for a great nights sleep and a wonderful chance to sleep in...which totally didn't happen! The beds were terrible and I think I slept the best of the 3 of us but we were all awake by 6:45am!

We checked out on Sunday morning and headed to White Spot (a fave of all of ours) for breakfast, did a little bit more shopping and then headed to the ferry nice and early to make sure we made it on the 3pm ferry home. Overall it was an absolutely wonderful weekend away and I would love to make it a yearly trip!

Here are the pictures from our trip! I didn't take too many because I was just really enjoying my time!

Robes on for a photo before heading to the spa!

My new boots that I fell in love with once I saw that they folded up high on my leg. I wasn't a huge fan of them when they were folded down with a big fuzzy grey band across my leg. They are so comfy and my favorite purchase of the trip!

Theresa lounging by the window (and the heater trying to heat up!). The room was freezing for the first few hours we were there!

Dinner at Boston Pizza

This is how Ash enjoys her wine when she forgets her plastic wine glass on her kitchen counter because she slept until until 2 minutes after she was supposed to pick me up :)

hehehehehe....me and my one little drink...which I tried hard to drink but just couldn't do it!

One more small sip, but after 5 sips I was already feeling fuzzy!

The view from our room on Sunday morning. Stormy, windy and rainy but who cares!

We went to the spa to buy some nail polish and I loved this light fixture in there

My favorite picture from the weekend! I love these girls.

Thanks again to Jimmy, Sean and Kevin for being rock star dad's and taking on kid duty for the weekend so us girls could get away from it all! We all had a great time!

Poor Jordie Boy

Jordan woke up in the night on Monday and we could tell he went from feeling fine at bedtime to sick. He had a terrible seal like barking cough and was just really unsettled. He woke up really early on Tuesday morning and looked really not great. I had a ton of stuff to do at work so staying home was not an option so THANK GOD for Nana and Papa who agreed to take him even though he wasn't looking (or feeling) very well at all.

This is what he looked like just before I left there at 8:45 to take James to school. Poor little Jordie!

Here he is snuggled up next to Papa snoozing away

Nana said he snoozed off and on all morning

Here he is at Wal-Mart with his Daddy after his fever had broken and he had gone to the doctor to get some antibiotics. He was clearly feeling a little bit better!

And then THIS happened! Jim said he fell somehow right on his forehead in the mall. OUCH!

He was still in good humour but with a climbing fever again this smile didn't last too long

Still relatively happy playing in the bathtub...wow does that thing look red. This was probably 3 hours after it happened too!

Out cold in bed 7pm...this only lasted about 45 minutes before he was awake and crying again.

So he came into bed with me while I watched some TV

He saw the flash go off so he gave me this little sleepy half smile

Finally asleep, but from 8-12:30 he only slept in 15 minute shifts in among crying and gagging like he had to get sick. Poor little guy! At 12:30 we gave him some Benadryl (suggested/recommended by the pharmacist) and he insisted that he wanted to "me eep my bed" so we moved him over with his humidifier and his bucket in case he got sick and he slept solidly with no coughing or waking up until after 7am. And then today he seems almost back to himself and the cough is a million times better. Kids sure do bounce back fast! It's hard to see your babies sick!

Jim and I couldn't be more proud of his newest sport!

James had his first class of karate today and seriously he did so good. Jim and I were so darn proud standing there watching him kick, punch, run, follow directions and yell happily throughout the whole thing!

In the weeks leading up today we had talked with James a lot about listening, respect and paying attention to the Sensei and he knew that if he couldn't follow directions that he wouldn't be allowed to continue in the class. We've been trying hard to reinforce to him to not speak unless spoken to (which I know is hard for him...I wonder where he gets that from!!) and thankfully today he did really good. And the absolute best part of it all...he absolutely LOVED it! I can see many many hours (and dollars) being spent at that dojo and I hope he continues to fall in love with it and it becomes a sport that he excels at. I think it will be great for his self esteem and will teach him the discipline that I think helps kids so much these days.

Here's to many more photos and videos in the future!

All dressed and ready to go!

Today's turn to be awesome! He did so good and Sensei was impressed with how fast he was!

This was from his karate evaluation back in early December. He talked about this to everyone that would listen. He loved that he was able to kick the paper out of Sensei's hand!

Serious cuteness

Even though these two drove me seriously batty this morning....I couldn't imagine my life without either one of them! I love them both for so many different reasons and they both make me happy and proud to be their Mom.

Snow Night!

The snow was falling for less than 12 hours earlier this week and pretty much our whole town shut down. My office closed early so we were able to eat dinner early and then James was begging to go and build a snowman and because we knew it would all be melted by the end of school the following day we broke out the snow suits and off we went at 7pm!

In the end James didn't really want to build a snowman at all...he really just wanted to throw snow balls at his Dad and brother. I said I would only go if no snow balls were thrown at me! I was already in my PJ's and had wet hair from my shower so really didn't want to get soaking wet and cold!

Jordan absolutely LOVED the snow and this was really the first year that he really got it and enjoyed being in it. The only other time he's really seen it was the year that he wasn't even walking yet!

Side note: These huge snow balls were already there right in the center of the school field!

He was so hot and sweaty...and so happy!

Even though the boys had a late night that night and we didn't get anything done that we needed to that night, we had so much fun and that's what having kids is all about! We try to get out and do stuff with our boys and this night was a perfect example of that!

The New Years Day forgotten photo

I hadn't downloaded the photos from my phone yet when I created the post about New Years. Then Theresa reminded me of this great photo that we snapped while we were watching the Polar Bear Swim so I realized I should give it it's own special post.

I'm lucky to have these two girls in my life. In just a few weeks we are heading over to the Kingfisher for a spa weekend planned by our hubbies as Christmas/Birthday presents. I can't wait!
