Favourite Photo Friday - a new weekly post!

I think this one should be an easy one for me to pull off seeing as I take photos every single day!

Funny enough when I started to look through my pictures for the week I realized that I actually didn't even take this photo...and for once it's not of the littlest one that seems to be the most photographed these days. It was no different when my boys were little, they just happen to be near me the most!

Danielle sent this photo to me the other day when she watched the boys for me for a few hours. I love these four little monsters so much and a picture of all 4 of them smiling at once is rare!

Throwback Thursday - Photos of newborn Kennedy Joanna

How is this little monster going to be two in just two weeks?? I'm throwing it way back to the first week of her life when we lived in the little hospital cocoon and snuggled and fed for hours on end with family visiting in between naps and check ups. Her birth was one of the scariest experiences of my life and I've never really shared much on here about how it all played out after the complications of my pregnancy. It's on the major to-do blog list, and maybe one day I'll get to it :)

For now I'm going to drink in the memories of snuggling this little lady, my very last baby.

Wednesday Wishes - Forever friends

My hope for my kids is to grow up to be friends as well as siblings. I love my brothers and couldn't imagine my life without either of them in it. I hope when my kids are adults and look back at their childhoods they have wonderful fond memories of growing up together. I have always hoped that in the future this blog will bring them lots of laugh and will act as a scrapbook for them to show their own kids one day of what their lives were like together.

These two have always been best buddies...until around the last year when the fights have started and more and more bickering. I hope we never get to the fist fights and all out drag em down wars that I saw from my two brothers! And if we do, I hope they get up afterwards and hug each other and move on with their friendship. My own two brothers aren't super close now but definitely have a bond and many memories from our childhood.

He's such a sweet big brother sometimes. Here he is reading to Jordie. That same night when Jordie was tired and grumpy about doing his laundry James stepped up and helped him get it finished, without me asking him to.

These two have the cutest bond these days. I often find them playing a game together or coloring together or just chatting away.

He really just loves her and he is definitely her favorite buddy these days! He is always up for playing with her and she is so lucky to have such a great big brother in her corner.

Hahahahaha super blurry photo but so cute too!

Eyes glazed over from too much sugar?! Hahahahaha

Cute moment captured

This morning before I left for work these two came to say goodbye to me at the door. He asked for a hug and I was shocked that she actually willingly gave him one. She also leaned in for a smooch which I happened to capture too. The look of love on his face just makes my heart proud. He really and truly just adores her and I hope that never changes. She is so lucky to have him as her biggest brother and I hope she grows up to realize that he is always there for her, no matter what she needs.

I know it’s Spring when...

....mom and dad are sneaking slurpies and ice cream after the kids got to bed!

A few nights ago we were thinking we wouldn’t get them again and then Danielle texted to say she was thinking of them since I mentioned them. So off Jim went for a treat for all 3 of us. Yummy!!

It’s the thought that counts

I’ve been working this week while Jim is on holidays with the kids. I was so touched on Monday when the boys walked up to my office with this adorable little plant. Lord willing I’ll keep it alive for st least a little bit! That night when I got home Jordie asked me if it was still alive. Hahahahah...these kids know my track record with keeping plants alive!

Didn't snap a pic on Monday of them but did yesterday when they came up again to say hi and bring me a cup of tea :)

I love them so much and am enjoying seeing them during the day while they are on Spring break. It's so nice to live so close to my work...and to have kids old enough to walk here to bring me a treat!

It really is the thought that counts. Small thoughtful things mean the world to me.

Oh oh! Another future goalie?

Aaaawwww I love this picture of my Jordie boy all decked out in the goalie gear today while playing hockey at the school. He took two balls to the mouth and face and just kept on going. He’s a tough little cookie like his daddy...and seems to love the goalie position like his big brother does. Lord help me if I went from being the mom that said my boys weren’t going to play hockey to the mom of two goalies?!?!

A brothers love

This past week Jordie had a bad cold and was feeling pretty crummy one night. While I was getting Kennedy ready for bed and Jordie was in the shower I saw James buzz downstairs for something and come back up a few minutes later. Next I could hear him making the bed for Jordie on the floor and putting something on the pillow. When Jordie finished his shower and went into the room he was thrilled to see this little note on his pillow. He asked James to read it to him and was so touched when he realized how much his brother cared. He has carried this card around everywhere with him since that night and told everyone about how much his brother loves him. Sometimes they fight so much and I think they'll never be best friends again like they were when they were little, and then something like this happens and I see hope for a bright brother relationship future.

He's loving learning how to read and he studied this page over and over again until he memorized everything it said so he could "read" it to people. Such a cute moment to capture and remember forever.

Almost 2

Our sweet and crazy and funny and sometimes maddening Kennedy Joanna is less than a month away from turning 2 and I just can’t believe it. Time is flying by me these days and never seems to slow down anymore.

Today her Daddy dressed her for the day and she was just the cutest ever. He always picks the most random and usually adorable mixture of clothing for her, and not ones I would usually ever pair together. And the pigtails were all Daddy too ❤️😃

I find myself snuggling her more

My little girlie is almost 2 and I sit here wondering how the heck that happened so fast? The past year has been a blur of busyness, a lot of fun times, and many challenging times too. The months from 13-18 were particularly difficult for us with a screaming teething running everywhere and touching everything toddler and I'm just happy we survived them....and never have to live through them again!

The past 3 months have been truly life changing for Kennedy. Her speech has exploded, her awareness of what is going on has expanded immensely, and her attitude has about tripled, but so has her love and affection, which truly keeps her alive some days :)

So many changes are on the horizon and I'm both excited and sad about them. Potty-training is about to get started (WOOHOO), and plans for a big girl bed are in the works (BOOHOO), plus a big Bubble Guppies birthday party coming up too!

I've always been the bedtime mom. Even when Jim is home I still put the kids to bed 98% of the time. He's always been the bath guy, I've always been the bedtime snuggle girl. These days I find myself reading more stories and singing more songs, and just holding her longer when she'll let me. So many times in the week I say that I can't wait till she's older and while that is true for the most part, I am also really trying hard now to enjoy these next few toddler years. I know with her being my third and final baby that before I blink she will be running off to Busy Bee's...and then Kindergarten... Time really just just go at lightning speed the more kids you have and the older you get!

For now, I'm just gonna take the extra snuggles when she'll give them.
