Family weekend in Nanaimo

Our weekend away started on Friday morning when we headed off for the 8:15am ferry to Comox

Eating breakfast on the ferry

Jim actually ate leftover pasta and porkchop at 8:30! Gross!

Thankfully the Slacks/Wates were on the ferry too so we got to have a visit with them, and Uncle Matt was nice enough to play cards with the boys

Adorable Kaleb Slack

Two adorable photos that Theresa sent to me. These two are so cute together. I really love this photo actually. They both look so cute!

Heading back to the van with his Daddy and his backpack

In Comox our van was getting serviced at the Dodge dealership so we decided to go swimming at the rec centre instead of waiting at the dealership

Such a cute picture of Jordie in a locker waiting for us to get in the water.

This pool was awesome, with water slides, waves and a hot tub that we all loved.

I love having a water camera! It makes my photo happy self very excited to capture these kinds of memories now. Best $100 I've spent in a long time!

Our attempt at a family selfie just didn't happen...at least Jim and I look good!

Cute cute cute!

A very tired little boy after swimming and we had to keep him awake from the rec centre in Comox down the hill to the White Spot in Courtenay. This was at the bottom of the hill near the Superstore and he was fading fast.

And here he is just about a block before the White Spot! Trying to keep him awake because sometimes if he falls asleep for even a few minutes before he can have a full nap he won't go back to sleep at all so we were really hoping to get through lunch before falling asleep on the way to Nanaimo.

Into the restaurant and waiting for a table

Cars will always keep Jordie busy anywhere we go!

Pirate packs for the boys!

AMAZING Eggs Benny for me!

And of course a burger for Jimmy

Ice cream for lunch...this a rare treat for sure!

Can you say Happy Jordie!

Quick stop at Payless Shoes and now we're on our way

Adorable video we call Snip Snap Giggles

And just about 5 minutes later he was OUT COLD!

Look at how big James's feet are now!!

Dinner and overnight visit with Grandma Doris and Grandpa Roger

hehehehe...sorry Grandpa Roger!

This is how Jordie likes to sleep now, with his pillows on top of him

The next morning they were awake ridiculously early so we broke out the iPad for some Bubble Guppies and snuggles for Mommy while Daddy stayed asleep for awhile

We love this lady so much and so appreciate that they let us stay there with our two crazy kids

Saturday morning brought some shopping...this one was taken at the new Cabela's store

This one too

Next up was ToysRUs where James found a real Mario Kart

And then spent his birthday money on a bunch of spots equipment...and no toys at all!

And new golf sets for both boys

Throwing money in the clock tower wishing fountain

We went to Old Navy but Jordie was so tired he kept reaching for me to pick him up out of the cart. I asked him if he just wanted me to hold him so he could fall asleep in my arms and he shook his head yes so we kept moving instead!

Waiting for James and Jim while they were clearly buying me a Mother's Day present, Jordie and I hit up my favorite spot in Woodgrove Mall...KERNELS popcorn. I'd say Jordie takes after his Mama with his love of popcorn. See how food made him forget how tired he was?

They finally found us and now we're headed for lunch at the food court

hahahahaha...we forgot a bib and he was not happy with our makeshift plastic bag bib

So we took off and he was much happier

And a few minutes later we were shopping in Wal-Mart and he was so tired (from only a 20 minute catnap in the van) that when Jim tried to push the cart he pushed Jim's hand away and grabbed mine because this is what he wanted me for. Clearly Jim didn't have what he needed at that moment.

As soon as we made it out of the store he grabbed for me so he could fall asleep in my arms. I walked with him all the way from Wal-Mart back to where we parked near ToysRUs.

He slept only about 40 minutes total before we headed to Harewood to see Auntie Marcia and Uncle Paul (and the adorable Squirt too)

The boys visiting with Uncle Paul on his boat

After that visit we headed out to Shawn and Kyla's for the family dinner and to stay for the night.

Here is a cute picture of Jordie and Reegan.

Swinging and trampoline jumping made for some very tired and dirty little boys that night.

Jordie loved the deck chairs there the most!

Big hugs for Grandpa. It was awesome to see this because earlier that day Colin said to Jim "he sure is friendlier now than he was a few months ago"

SO CUTE!

Me and baby Reegan!

See....the pillows on top of him again!

Mother's Day morning and we were awake at 5:45am!

Jim and Shawn took the boys outside to play on the bobcat in the back yard before we headed off for the day. Both of the boys took turns driving with Shawn and they loved it.

James's driving!

Next up was breakfast with two of our faves...Erin and Barb. We went to the Moose for cheap pancake breakfast and it was good food and even better company.

Jordie was just done after being up so early and breakfast was definitely challenging with this guy. Here he is barely holding it together. It looks like he's smiling but really he's whining.

Nice attempt at a family selfie, but couldn't get everyone in.

Stopped to see some 2 day old kittens at Uncle Tom's girlfriends house.

Boys had to take turns "driving" Uncle Tom's truck too.

Next up we headed to Bowen Park to watch Linden and Dane play in the World Junior Mini Cup soccer tournament. But first I wanted some pictures with my boys for Mother's Day. I actually really like these pictures.

And of course more food for Jordie.

He wanted to be a big kid but wasn't so sure

He got to the top but then just stood in the way

So Jim went up after him and basically pushed him down the slide

Which as you can see resulted in him somehow ending up coming down on his face. Don't worry, I caught him so he didn't land on his head!

We walked over to the park and hung out with the Slacks for an hour before Dane's next game started, but sadly we weren't able to stay to watch Linden play.

Here are some cute big and little brother moments between Linden and Kaleb.

And some between James and Jordan too

He just loves to attack his older brother!

Here are some action shots of Dane-O in goal

After a little bit of soccer we were off to Annie's house for Mother's Day dinner with her and Acasia.

Here is a cute video of Jordie playing with Acasia while she was in the bathroom

Didn't want Annie to cook so we ordered pizza instead.

Wish this picture wasn't so dark cause it's a really cute picture of the beautiful Acasia

Apparently it was hot

This girl is one of my besties for sure, even if we don't see each or talk nearly as much as I wish we did, I know she is ALWAYS there for me and she knows I am there for her too.

A few weeks before James had mentioned how cool it would be to get a pizza made of ice cream. He was pleasantly surprised when Jim said it does exist and it's called a Treatza Pizza so Jim and James went to DQ and picked one up for dessert! It was as good as I remember it being!

He was pretty impressed too!

Everyone was tired and we tried for the best picture we could!

I just love these two so much!

And had to have the yearly James and Acasia picture :)

Burning off some energy before getting in the van to make the drive to Courtenay for the night.

Here we are just a few minutes after geyting into the van. He's still awake and watching the movie, for now anyways.

Less than 15 minutes later and he was out and he slept almost the whole way to Courtenay.

And then he was WIDE AWAKE at the hotel and didn't go to sleep until almost 10pm

Who does love a little bit of hotel bed jumping

And then some quiet time watching the hockey game

Snuggles with his blankie and stuffie

Attempting to get a few cute selfies with my boys before bed

I think this day they may have slept till 6:30am

A few cute together shots in PJ's before heading down for continental breakfast at 7:30 so we could go swimming at 8:00.

Breakfast time

Swimming at the Holiday Inn Express. James loved the waterslide

And Jordie looked like he would...

...but he didn't!

He HATED it!

Mommy took a turn too and hit my head so hard at the end that I headache for the rest of the day!
Oh yeah, and Jordan thought it was funny to see me splash down the slide.

Next up was time for the boys to take turns jumping into the pool

And the best part...the hot tub!

Back up in our room and all showered and dressed and ready to head to James's eye appointment in Comox.

He was such a good boy while we waited for his turn, he loves to play tic tac toe these days. For the first time ever we were actually in and out of there in less than an hour.

Doing some testing before seeing Dr.Cornock

While were in the appointment Jim and Jordie went to the little mall across the street. Jordie loved his ride in the little ice cream truck.

And then on the way back to the van he fell fast asleep in Jim's arms.

About half hour later he was awake again and ready to party!

Heading to Timmy's to visit with Jackie and Kyle

Jordie loves the new Creamy Chocolate Chill drink at Timmy's

And so does James!

Then we headed back to White Spot for another great lunch and a longer visit with Jackie

By this time we were on our way home and all of us were just beat. Jordie was cranky in the van and my phone died on the ferry so this ended up being our last photo of the trip!

Overall we had a fantastic trip visiting with our friends and family. Always wish we had more time to see more people but 4 days is tiring with 2 very busy little boys. Next time in November we'll try for another 4 days and see if we can see some people that we didn't see this time.
