We travelled on Friday and luckily we were able to stay with our friends Aaron & Kayla. Here are some photos from our dinner with them that night.
Checking out Kayla's home made ice cream maker!
Unfortunately James had been sick on and off for a month and on the day of the wedding he woke up throwing up again so we had a very quiet day before we left him with Aaron & Kayla who assured us they were up for the challenge of dealing with a sick kid.
Snugging up watching some Netflix
Luckily he was okay and ended up being fine while we were gone! Here are some photos from Kayla of their evening with them. They made home made pizza and watched some movies! This is at dinner time so clearly they had an awesome PJ day!
And of course here are a bunch of photos from the wedding too!
Beautiful decor
Such a beautiful spot to get married!
The bride and groom's littlest guy Reegan playing with his Grandpa
And their oldest guy Eli feeling a little shy with everyone looking at him
Jim's brother Tom walking to get his bridesmaid
The beautiful bride Kyla
The MC got these boxers for the groomsman. The bride and groom had been together for 8 years!
Tom and his wonderful girlfriend Ally
Jim and I went for a little walk down to the water after supper
I love this guy so much
Looking back at the tent and the house
Cousins!
Great photo of Jim & Shawn
Sunday morning dawned and James seemed fine so off we went for a very full day of visiting! We saw Doris and Roger for breakfast, then headed out to the Cassidy campsite to visit with Jim's cousin Shelley and her family for a swim at the river, then rushed to dinner with Grandpa Barrows, Uncle Tom and Ally, then afterwards went for a dessert visit with our favourites, Erin & Barb Bitonti!
Love this photo of James & Doris!
And this one of Jordie & Roger!
Cousin Brooklyn and her new little puppy Piper!
These are all the photos I took on my good camera of the boys swim down at the river...including cliff jumping!
Look at her go!
James's turn for Tyler to throw him!
He's heading up to the top cliff to jump!
There he goes!
Jordie's turn to jump!
Now it's Scott & Tyler's turn to jump
More kid jumping!
There goes Daddy again!
Swimming back now
hahahahaha...this face is awesome!
This little lady is such a cutie and I so wish we got to spend more time with this part of our family because I think our kids would get along awesome with her and would have so much fun.
Back in for another swim around
Adorable puppy!
These two were so cute together. They just sat together eating snacks and watching James swim
Big hugs for Brooklyn before we left
My arms were full too but I felt sorry for Jimmy! We were in a huge hurry or we were going to be late for dinner with Colin so he threw Jordie up on his shoulders and off he went. We took a huge shortcut up a very steep trail that was very dusty and didn't have very many places to grab on to. James managed to do it but got absolutely covered in dirt and Jimmy fell once with Jordie up there but thankfully he made it up too! It's all about the adventures in life sometimes!
Big hugs and kisses for Uncle Tom
And for Grandpa too of course
Sadly, the next morning James woke up sick again and we thought maybe our trip to Coombs wasn't a good idea. We went to a little diner in Errington for breakfast and unfortunately the poor kid got sick outside there. After that we headed to Coombs for a short little walkabout before heading very early to Comox to ensure we made it home on the 3:15 ferry that day. We got there early and spent a few hours visiting with the Parkins which ended up being a fun part of the weekend too!
Jordie all snuggled up on Monday morning
Getting some photos in front of the statues at the Coombs market
Poor James wasn't feeling very good
But this guy was as full of it as ever!
This is a cute one!
Off to see the goats on the roof
A great picture of the boys with Aaron & Kayla outside the market!
He was tired and ready for a nap in the van!
And one last group selfie before we said thank you and goodbye and headed off for the ferry!
Overall we had a great visit...although it never seems long enough to see everyone we would like to. It was so nice of Aaron & Kayla to have us and it was great to see some of the family for a few hours at the river too. I do wish we could afford to travel there more regularly but with the ferries it's just really hard and expensive to do it. We wouldn't have missed Shawn & Kyla's wedding though and I'm so thankful that Aaron & Kayla were willing to watch our boys for us so that we could attend it. It even felt a bit like a date night for us without our boys :)
