Another from then to now!!

Only 3 years apart and I can't believe how much they've all changed!

 As soon as the 2020 photo popped up in my memories I instantly thought of this recent photo we took of the kids at Science World during our week in Vancouver for provincials. So fun to see the changes in them all and to see the massive size difference now between them all. James is a literal giant of a child. Jordie is growing slowly and Kennedy is already quite tall compared to other kids her age. It is fascinating to see how their growth patterns change and I can't wait to see which of them ends up tall like their uncles and which ones stop growing young like their daddy did!

I couldn't pick the photo I liked better so we're sharing them both! This dog loves this boy so much it warms my heart when I see them play together and live life side by side. When Jordie sat down to take his photo with Harris for his birthday Koda just stood there and looked at him because it is rare that anyone sits in this chair. As soon as Jordie moved over and called him up he climbed up and turned around and looked right at me with the big awesome goofy grin on his face (I mean the dog, not the kid!) 

I love the bond these two share and I can't wait to see how it develops in the years to come! 

From then….to now!

Baby Kennedy….still in the hospital, maybe 3 days old? This takes me back to those long hard first days with her, our last tiny little human we would bring home with us. 

In general, I don’t think she looks a lot like she did as a baby, and then I see this photo and I totally see the similarities!

Every time anyone in our family sees this photo it’s always the same reaction….”aaawww, it’s big fat Jordie!”  He was seriously the cutest chubbiest baby I had. He was a pretty serious baby so when we did get smiles from him they were so cherished. 

His smiles and big brown eyes still melt me like they did almost 10 years ago!!

This is probably my favourite photo of James as a baby! His first smile captured and I have never forgotten this picture through the years!

If he didn’t wear glasses I think he would look a lot like what he looked like as a baby!

His smile melts me…

…and keeps me sane on the days that he drives me insane!

Man do I ever love this dog so much and genuinely enjoy his company a lot of the time but he also drives me completely bat shit crazy sometimes too. The shedding is outrageous and there is hair literally everywhere but he is such a happy and easy going boy for the most part. He’s added a lot of joy into our house, as well as his fair share of ridiculous barking and howling too. If you’ve ever been at the school at the end of the day I’m sure you’ve seen our happy boy surrounded by kids or howling his heart out when his Jordie boy walks towards him! 

Koda is our adventure buddy and comes with us everywhere. He is exactly what I wanted from a dog to join our busy family. He joins us on the seawall and trails for walks, loves to come to the school to pick up his kids (he waits at the door when he knows I’m leaving to get them!), to the baseball parks we spend our evenings at, in the van to drive kids to the complex or dance class and on errands like recycling or the garbage dump. 

He is a goofy character of a dog that has so many wonderful traits and quirks, but also he’s another living breathing creature that I’m responsible for and that weighs on me sometimes too. I’m glad we waited to get a dog until we are in this stage of life. I can’t even imagine what having a dog would have been like for me when I had babies and toddlers. I truly believe he joined our family at the perfect time for us and I couldn’t be happier to have my Koda bear.

Months have gone by again without a post

2023 came in fast and busy and before I know it, we’re half way through May already?! Hockey season was long and amazing and tiring and lots of fun. So many highlights for both of our boys. Days are getting quieter in the next few weeks and I’m hoping for down time this summer to do some fun blog posts.
